Former Gettysburg Mayor Chad-Alan Carr arrested for child sex crimes

A former Pennsylvania mayor faces child sex crime charges two weeks after resigning from office after less than a month in office for allegedly grooming a boy while volunteering in the theater community.
Just two weeks into his term as mayor of Gettysburg, Chad Alan-Carr resigned due to what he described as personal matters unrelated to city business.
Carr, 48, is charged with misdemeanor charges of child sexual abuse, solicitation of child sexual abuse and corruption of minors, according to court records.

Carr solicited “inappropriate material” from at least one teenage boy between 2011 and 2013, Adams County District Attorney Brian Sinnett said Friday.

“We allege that Chad-Alan Carr groomed this special individual before he was 16, and we believe this to be true,” Sinnett said at a press conference.
Carr allegedly groomed the boy and persuaded him to share nude video and photo images. Sinnett said no further charges could be filed against Carr because the statute of limitations had already expired.
Carr’s attorney, John Abom, declined to comment to Fox News Digital about their case.
Investigators also interviewed several other witnesses who provided reports regarding allegations of Carr’s “inappropriate behavior,” Sinnett said. But he said the alleged conduct did not warrant criminal charges.

Carr was volunteering at Gettysburg High School at the time of the alleged crimes. He was also general manager of the Gettysburg Community Theatre, authorities said.
The young boy became involved in the theater community at a young age. Authorities said Carr treated the victim differently from other students during his sophomore and junior years of high school, paying a lot of attention to her and being kind to her.

The victim, now an adult, told investigators he had known Carr for several years. He began communicating with Carr via Facebook Messenger and Skype at the age of 16. fox 43 reported.
At one point, the conversations turned sexual and continued until the boy turned 17, the outlet said.

The news stated that Carr resigned from the mayoralty this month, but before leaving office, he allegedly admitted to a friend that the allegations were true.
Carr is being held on $100,000 bail. His next hearing will be held on March 20.
