Prince Harry spokesperson brands new biography a ‘deranged conspiracy’ amid allegations Meghan ‘brainwashed’ him
Prince Harry’s spokesman has strongly denied claims in the new biography, which claims Queen Camilla said she was “brainwashed” by her husband Meghan as a “mindless conspiracy”.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have largely distanced themselves from the British royal family since stepping down from official duties and moving to California in 2020, but their lives continue to attract significant global attention.
Excerpts from author Tom Bower’s latest serialized book Times The newspaper claims that tensions between the couple and other royal family members began shortly after their high-profile wedding in 2018.
Bower, known for his royal biographies, claims that Harry and Meghan no longer get along well with the extended family, and that Harry has rarely seen his father, King Charles, in recent years.
The book also claims that Harry’s older brother Prince William and his wife Catherine were concerned about Meghan’s influence and saw her as a threat. In this context, the King’s wife, Camilla, is quoted as saying to a friend, “Meghan has brainwashed Harry.”
The biography also details Harry’s alleged shock at the downfall of his uncle Prince Andrew, who lost his titles and residence over his association with convicted US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Harry reportedly feared his brother would similarly “exile” him.
Andrew was arrested last month on suspicion of abuse of public office and was later released on bail.
In a rather strong rebuke, a spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan stated that Bower’s comment “crossed the line from criticism to obsession.”
The statement said: “Those interested in facts will look elsewhere; those looking for deranged plotting and melodrama know exactly where to find it.”
Buckingham Palace declined to comment on behalf of King Charles and Queen Camilla regarding the allegations. Representatives for Prince William and Catherine had no immediate comment.
