One dead, two hospitalised following head-on crash north-west of Brisbane
A woman died and a man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a head-on collision near Lake Wivenhoe at night.
Police suspected two cars – a white Holden Commodore and a black BMW – were traveling in opposite directions on the Brisbane Valley Expressway when they crashed shortly after 11pm on Saturday.
The driver of the Commodore, a 23-year-old Bracken Ridge woman, died at the scene.
His passenger, a 24-year-old Mango Hill man, was assessed by paramedics for serious pelvic and leg injuries.
He was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition.
The driver of the BMW, a 30-year-old woman from Coominya, 85 kilometers northwest of Brisbane, also suffered serious pelvis and leg injuries and was taken to the same hospital with a potentially life-threatening condition.
Officers said they were investigating reports that the Commodore was seen driving around the area with a large group just before the crash.
They appealed for anyone who may have seen the collision or has relevant footage to contact police.
