Horror find after chopper crash in northwestern NSW

Police believe they have found the body of a 77-year-old pilot following a helicopter crash in dense forest in northwestern NSW on Friday.
Police and aviation authorities have launched an investigation after a Robinson R44 helicopter took off from the Gold Coast on Friday morning and failed to reach its intended destination of Mudgee in central west NSW.
The search for the helicopter was called off on Friday evening due to poor visibility and weather conditions, before the wreckage was found in Cataract National Park, east of Tenterfield, on Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday afternoon, police found a body believed to be that of the 77-year-old pilot.
The man has not yet been officially identified and the rescue operation is ongoing.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) launched an investigation into the accident.
“The ATSB intends to publish a preliminary report detailing factual information about the circumstances of the accident within approximately eight weeks,” the ATSB said in a statement.
