Argos, Adsa and Farmfoods customers urged to return 8 products – full list | UK | News

Shoppers have been urged to check their cupboards and kitchens after many high street retailers issued emergency product recalls. Customers at Asda, Argos and Farmfoods are among those told to return their products immediately due to safety concerns ranging from potential fire hazards to life-threatening undeclared allergens.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has flagged many popular products, including fryers, cheesecakes and snacks, as “health risk” or “unsafe”. A major safety warning has been issued for six different models of Tower Air Fryers sold at various major retailers including Argos, B&M, Poundland and Sainsbury’s. Affected units manufactured between January 2022 and April 2023 were found to overheat and ignite during use, posing a significant fire risk. Owners are advised to stop using and unplug the devices immediately.

Affected models include the T17023 Tower 2.2Ltr Manual Air Fryer, T17087 Tower 2Ltr Compact Manual Air Fryer, and T17129L Tower Vortx 8L Air Fryer. Customers can visit Tower security website To sign up for a refund or replacement unit.

Dessert giant Gu Indulgent Foods, which sells products in UK supermarkets including Asda, has issued a recall of its Blonde Chocolate Cheesecake (2 x 82g) because it was mistakenly packaged with a different product containing hazelnuts. Since hazelnuts are not mentioned on its packaging, it poses a serious risk for anyone with a hazelnut allergy. People who purchased this product, whose batch code was 226044 and whose expiry date was March 12, and who were allergic to hazelnuts, were told not to consume the product and to return it to the supermarket for a full refund.

FSA said: “If you purchased the product and are allergic to hazelnuts, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store where you purchased it for a full refund. No invoice required. Please contact recall@gupuds.com for more information.”

Farmfoods is also recalling Ritz Cheese Sandwich (91g), specifically those originating from Indonesia. The product contains milk, soy and wheat (gluten), which are not properly stated on the label. This makes the snack a health risk for anyone with celiac disease or an intolerance or allergy to dairy, soy, or wheat. The recall only affects all batch codes in Indonesian stock and does not affect products originating from other countries.

The FSA said: “If you have purchased this product and are allergic or intolerant to any of the allergens listed, do not eat it. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund. For more information, contact Farmfoods Customer Services on 0121 700 7160.”

Farmfoods said: “We take consumer safety very seriously and sincerely apologize to our loyal customers for this situation and any inconvenience it may have caused.”
