Last year, LPG prices showed a steady upward trend, with an overall increase of Rs 60 between April 2025 and March 2026. The most notable change occurred in March 2026, when the price increased by Rs 60.

The revised LPG rates are applicable for standard household cylinders used for home cooking purposes across India.

Although domestic LPG cylinder prices vary according to metropolitan cities, the latest prices have not changed since the last revision.
Current LPG price for a 14.2 kg cylinder in major cities includes:
- Kolkata – Rs 939.00 per cylinder
- Mumbai – Rs 912.50 per cylinder
- Chennai – Rs 928.50 per cylinder
- New Delhi – Rs 913.00 per cylinder
These prices are valid for domestic LPG cylinders supplied to homes for cooking purposes.

Similar LPG price levels are seen in some other cities across the country and no new changes are noted in the latest update.

LPG Supply Update: Government Continues Commercial LPG Distribution
The government has confirmed the resumption of commercial LPG cylinder distribution for various industries in different states.
According to Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary (Marketing and Oil Refining), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, commercial LPG supplies are provided directly to industries to support business operations.
Officials said this move aims to ensure that restaurants, hotels and other commercial businesses dependent on LPG can continue their operations without disruption.
LPG Supply Situation: Government Urges Consumers to Avoid Panic Booking
Officials have assured consumers that there will be no shortage of LPG supplies in India even as geopolitical tensions continue in some parts of the Middle East.
LPG sales have increased slightly in recent days, but the government is closely monitoring the supply chain to ensure stable availability of domestic and commercial cylinders, officials said.
Consumers have been advised not to panic for LPG cylinders as sufficient stock is available at distribution centres.
LPG Tankers Pass Safely through the Strait of Hormuz
Two LPG carriers carrying fuel safely passed the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical sea lanes for oil and gas shipments.
Reports indicate that Iran has granted safe passage to Indian-flagged LPG tankers, allowing them to pass through the region despite ongoing geopolitical tensions.
Around 28 Indian ships are currently operating in the Persian Gulf region and authorities are monitoring their movements to ensure security.
Supervision of LPG Transportation Intensified Amid Gulf Tension
The Ministry of Ports, Maritime Affairs and Waterways has strengthened monitoring of LPG and oil shipments passing through sensitive sea lanes in the Gulf region.
The Strait of Hormuz handles approximately 20 percent of global oil and gas exports, and the security of this route is vital for LPG imports and energy supplies to India.
