Man allegedly shot dead by neighbour

A 50-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by a neighbor during a suspected revenge killing at Manjapra near Angamaly on Monday evening, March 16, 2026. The accused surrendered at Ayyampuzha police station and was arrested.

The victim has been identified as Jose Chakku aka Kilukkan Jose of Manjapra Vadakkumbhagom. The defendant, 57-year-old Pauly Jose, is reportedly a former soldier.

The incident took place around 6 pm in Kothayithodu, a stream bordering Kalady and Ayyampuzha police station. According to preliminary information, the accused allegedly opened fire on Jose Chakku when he went to take a bath. Police said Jose Chakku was the prime accused in the murder of the accused’s father during a property dispute seven years ago.
