Tamil Nadu election: Separate district demand, civic issues are prominent in Attur constituency

Attur (SC) constituency, located 50 km from Salem town, is an agricultural area predominantly for tapioca cultivation and there are dozens of sago factories in Attur.

The constituency has been represented five times by the AIADMK (1991, 2001, 2011, 2016 and 2021) and the Congress (1962, 1977, 1980, 1984 and 2006) and four times by the DMK (1967, 1971, 1989 and 1996).
