Bolivian authorities have ordered preventive detention for six months for a 22-year-old Uruguayan woman allegedly related to drug trafficker Sebastián Marset.

Bolivian authorities accuse the Uruguayan woman of being part of a criminal organization and engaging in arms smuggling.

Bolivian prosecutors identified the suspect as Tatiana Verónica Marset Alba, who allegedly formed part of the security system protecting the Uruguayan drug trafficker.

The judge decided to keep the suspect in Palmasola prison.

Police Commander Mirko Sokol and Chief Prosecutor Roger Mariaca claim that Marset Alba had both familial and professional ties to the criminal organization and was involved in logistical activities while serving in the security team.

Bolivian authorities claim that Marset Alba was arrested early in the morning at a place that served as a “safe house” for members protecting the drug trafficker.

The suspect is alleged to have worked with two Colombian citizens and a Venezuelan citizen while he was part of the protection and surveillance team protecting the drug trafficker.

Police also showed weapons they claimed were seized at the scene, including submachine guns, rifles, pistols and bulletproof vests. Marset Alba also smiled for the cameras despite the accusations against her.

Authorities claimed the group used high-end armored vehicles and technology to evade law enforcement.

Authorities also seized 10 luxury vehicles and 16 small planes for forensic examination.

The court also ordered six months of preventive detention in Palmasola prison for three foreign nationals arrested with him: Colombian citizens Yeison Javier Ortega Álvarez and Jaime Andrés Rodríguez Plata, and Venezuelan citizen Maiker Samir Torres Salgado.

Authorities claimed that Marset Alba had previously traveled to Paraguay and was detained in Spain in 2025, but was eventually acquitted.

Officials also suggested that Bolivia’s Attorney General’s Office, while pursuing the case against the Marset Alba-linked group, will request information from Uruguay, Paraguay and the United States to confirm whether they have criminal records.
