Met Office weather maps reveal UK areas facing 19C scorcher on Wednesday | UK | News

Much of the UK will be treated to a summer dose of sunny weather set to make a spectacular return tomorrow, Wednesday 17 March. Parts of the UK will be warmer than popular holiday destinations in Europe, with millions of people enjoying top temperatures of 19C.

The sunniest spots are forecast to be in parts of West Wales and Western England, with temperatures forecast to rise above the seasonal average. Met Office chief forecaster Dan Harris said Wednesday would be the hottest day of the week and could even be the hottest day of the year so far. Mr Harris added: The hottest spots are likely to be in parts of West Wales and the West of England; “Temperatures of 18-19°C, possibly even 20°C, are expected here under sunny skies.”

The Met Office’s weather maps for tomorrow have turned deep orange, indicating the mercury will rise.

At 2pm tomorrow afternoon, many areas across the UK will be enjoying high temperatures of 19 degrees. Manchester and Aberystwyth in mid Wales will see some of the highest temperatures.

By 3pm, Hereford in the West Midlands will see the mercury rise to 19°C. London won’t be far behind with 18C forecast. Birmingham, Nottingham, Sheffield, Wrexham, Stoke-on-Trent, Milton Keynes and Peterborough will see maximum temperatures of 18 degrees.

Those in South Wales and the South West of England are likely to see the mercury reach 17C.

Temperatures could reach 19C in the UK on Wednesday, while the mercury in Malaga, Spain is only expected to rise to around 17C. Meanwhile, in Santorini, showers are expected and temperatures will only be 16C.

Sunny weather will continue on Thursday, and temperatures will cool down towards seasonal averages on Friday.

Today is also the Spring Equator for the southern half of the UK, where daylight hours are closest to 12 hours. From tomorrow until the end of September, days will be longer than nights.

The Met Office’s forecast for Thursday to Sunday is: “Somewhat cloudy in the north and north-east on Thursday, otherwise mostly sunny.

“Warmth felt in light winds. After that, some rain in the far northwest. Elsewhere it’s fine, but generally cooler.”
