US military kills 2 narco-terrorists in Eastern Pacific, SOUTHCOM says

The US military launched a deadly attack on a suspected drug-smuggling ship in the Eastern Pacific on Friday, killing two alleged narco-terrorists, according to US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM).
A post on SOUTHCOM he said.
“Intelligence confirmed the ship was transiting known drug smuggling routes in the Eastern Pacific and was involved in drug smuggling operations,” the post continued. “Two male narco-terrorists were killed in this action, one survived the attack.”
SOUTHCOM said the U.S. Coast Guard was immediately notified to conduct search-and-rescue operations for the survivor.

The military said no U.S. soldiers were injured.
SOUTHCOM did not immediately release additional information about those killed.
The US military has carried out several strikes targeting ships suspected of drug smuggling in recent months as part of a broader campaign to dismantle cartel-linked smuggling operations.

Friday’s strike follows similar operations earlier this week. SOUTHCOM said it targeted a ship in the Eastern Pacific on Tuesday, killing three suspected narco-terrorists, and on Monday carried out another attack in the Caribbean, killing two suspected smugglers.
The Eastern Pacific and the Caribbean remain key corridors for drug trafficking, where cartels often use small, fast-moving ships to transport drugs to the United States and Central America.

SOUTHCOM is responsible for military operations in Central and South America and the Caribbean, including counternarcotics missions aimed at disrupting drug trafficking networks that threaten U.S. interests.
