Teenager allegedly stabs woman in Clayton, man shot in Craigieburn

A teenage boy who allegedly stabbed a woman on her way to work at a shopping mall has been released on bail before attacking a stranger.
A 25-year-old woman from Mount Waverley was stabbed as she walked through M-City Shopping Center on Blackburn Road in Clayton on her way to work about 7.50am on Thursday.
Police allege that a 16-year-old boy randomly attacked the woman, who was a stranger to him, after which a passerby helped him and called Triple Zero.
Ambulance Victoria confirmed the woman was taken to The Alfred in a stable condition with upper body injuries.
Police arrested the boy a short time later at a local medical center.
They later charged him with willful wounding, reckless wounding, armed assault on someone, possession of a controlled weapon, theft and committing an offense while on bail.
Police said the child was taken into custody to appear in juvenile court at a later date.
In a separate incident on Thursday, a man walking in a park on Vantage Avenue in Craigieburn in the city’s northern suburbs was shot at about 12.30pm, police said.
Paramedics treated the man in his 20s at the scene and then took him to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries to his lower body.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated,” police said in a statement.
Officers appealed for anyone with information regarding the shooting or stabbing to come forward.
The shooting was the second shooting in Melbourne this week, following Tuesday’s attack outside Cafe Squared in Altona North in the city’s south-western suburbs. During the incident, a group of men had to flee for their lives.
While the group was sitting outside the cafe drinking coffee around 11.30pm, gunshots were captured on CCTV and panicked men knocked over tables and chairs to retreat inside.
One person was shot twice in the arm. The person with non-life-threatening injuries was taken to hospital.
