Nancy Guthrie’s desperate family releases emotional new statement as they plead for ‘renewed attention to our mom’s case’ 50 days after she vanished

Nancy Guthrie’s family have issued a desperate appeal 50 days after she disappeared from her home, pleading with the public for “renewed attention” to their mother’s grisly chase.

The family made a heartbreaking statement during KVOA’s special broadcast on local Arizona news channel Saturday titled ‘Bring Her Home – The Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.’

The family thanked the people of Tucson for their support during the search for Nancy, telling their community: ‘We are all family now.’

“We continue to believe that Tucsonans and the greater southern Arizona community are the key to finding a solution to this case,” the family said.

‘Someone knows something. It is possible for a member of this community to have information that they did not even realize was important.’

The family asked Tucson residents to “search their memories,” focusing on the night of Jan. 31 and the early morning hours of Feb. 1, when investigators believe Nancy was taken from her home.

They asked the community to show ‘renewed interest’ in their mother’s case and investigate anything of significance, including footage, diary notes, text messages and observations.

‘We miss our mother with every breath and we cannot be at peace until she comes home. We cannot mourn; we can only suffer and wonder. “Our focus is solely on finding him and bringing him home,” the statement continued.

Nancy Guthrie’s family appealed to Tucson residents to search their memories for any information regarding their mother’s condition. Nancy is seen above with her daughter, Savannah, on the Today Show in 2023.

‘We want to celebrate his beautiful and brave life. But we can’t do that until we bring him to his final resting place.’

The KVOA special comes as Today show host Savannah Guthrie, 54, shares her first Instagram story in nearly three weeks.

He reposted a clip from Friday’s Today broadcast showing his colleagues interacting with attendees of Best Buddies International, a nonprofit that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Volunteers at the organization are paired with individuals with IDD and serve as mentors and friends in daily life.

Savannah is a long-time ambassador for the charity and has been ‘Best Friends’ with a person called Tara, who has Down Syndrome, for nearly 10 years.

The clip, which Savannah re-released, shows Tara standing behind Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin outside the Today show studio, holding a sign that reads ‘We love you, Savannah.’

The demonstration, held just outside the Today show studios at 10 Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan, was held in commemoration of World Down Syndrome Day.

‘Tomorrow is World Down Syndrome Day and we’re celebrating early with some of our friends from Best Buddies,’ Kotb said.

Savannah captioned the clip with three yellow heart emojis.

Savannah has been away from work since her mother disappeared in late January. Kotb and other hosts, including Sheinelle Jones, have been covering for Savannah in her absence.

Kotb has been co-hosting Today with Melvin since February 6. The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that NBC was gearing up for Savannah’s eventual return.

So far, Savannah has not stated when it will return to the air, but NBC has confirmed that it does not plan to be off the air permanently. He visited the studio on March 5 and was warmly welcomed by his colleagues.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31 after being dropped off at her home near Tucson, Arizona, by a family member.

Police believe the 84-year-old was abducted against her will in the early morning hours of February 1. When he didn’t show up at a friend’s house that day, his family reported him missing.

Nancy’s home security cameras showed a masked man at her door the night she disappeared. Authorities were neither able to identify the man nor focus on a possible suspect.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, who is leading the investigation, told NBC News on March 12 that he believed he knew the motive behind Nancy’s abduction, but did not share further details.

On March 16, NewsNation’s Brian Entin reported that investigators had asked Nancy’s neighbors for any security camera footage they could provide for Sunday, January 11, and Saturday, January 24. It is not clear why these dates are important.

Nanos and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department were roundly criticized for allegedly making significant mistakes early in the search.

The Daily Mail reported in February that the sheriff’s department failed to deploy a fixed-wing Cessna aircraft to search the area around Nancy’s home immediately after she was reported missing.

According to information close to the sheriff’s department told the Daily Mail, the plane, equipped with high-resolution thermal imaging cameras that can scan large desert lands, remained on the tarmac for about half a day.

There was a personnel shortage that left the department without qualified pilots to fly the aircraft; People familiar with the situation directly blamed Nanos.

Nanos also acknowledged that crime scene tape was placed and removed multiple times around Nancy’s home.

When asked about possible crime scene contamination issues this could cause, Nanos said: ‘I’ll let the court worry about that. ‘We comply with the rules of law.’

The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for any information that leads to finding Nancy or arresting those responsible.

Savannah and her family are also offering a $1 million reward. They donated $500,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
