Another gun by The Autumn Sun set to shine at feature meeting

The super-generation show from one of the country’s most exciting and still-blooming sirelines returns to the Newcastle meeting at the Beaumont circuit on Monday.
The three-year-old Autumn King, from the Paul Messara and Leah Gavranich stable at Scone, is seeking his second successive win this season when he cleared the Grade 1 Handicap over 1,200m.
And he’s poised to add to Autumn Sun’s rapidly growing success story by opening up the favorite at around $2.50 in early betting.
Autumn Sun rose to stardom after a stellar racing career that saw him score eight wins from nine starts, five of which came at Group 1 level.
And as we head into mid-autumn, it’s no seasonal surprise that the stars of the Autumn Sun are shining brighter than ever on NSW racing.
At Saturday’s spectacular Rosehill meeting the Autumn Sun sire propelled leading jockey James McDonald into the history books as the country’s greatest Group 1 winner.
First, after Autumn Boy attacked her rivals in the three-year-old Rosehill Guineas over 2000 metres, the unbeaten four-year-old superstar filly Autumn Glow put her rivals to the sword in the George Ryder Stakes over 1500 metres.
Autumn King was narrowly beaten twice at Scone and Newcastle last spring to start her career before spelling, then bounced back as the hottest favorite with her first win at Muswellbrook.
Bred to handle wet tracks as well as dry tracks, Autumn King could be locked in a two-horse battle with the promising Siragusa ($4.40), who bounces back from a hugely impressive maiden win at Tamworth two months ago.
The Beaumont course is expected to race in a busy range, with intermittent rain expected through Monday.
