Venezuelan migrant held in connection to killing of Loyola student in Chicago

A 25-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of a Loyola University Chicago student by a masked gunman near campus, the Chicago Tribune reported. reported.
The Tribune said it had obtained the arrest report and did not name the suspect; sources told Fox News he was an immigrant from Venezuela.
Sheridan Gorman, 18, of Westchester County, New York, was shot and killed while walking with friends on Chicago’s lakefront shortly after 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

The gunman allegedly approached the group, pulled out a gun and opened fire, hitting Gorman in the head, according to the Chicago Police Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported, according to police.
The suspect was identified minutes after the shooting because of his “noticeable limp,” according to records obtained by the Tribune.
Police have not yet confirmed whether the man has been charged in connection with the Gorman investigation.

Loyola University Chicago President Mark C. Reed confirmed Gorman’s death in a letter to the campus community on Thursday.

“It is with deep sadness that I write to share that one of our students, Sheridan Gorman, was murdered earlier today,” Reed said. “This is a tragic loss and our hearts go out to Sheridan’s family, loved ones and everyone who knew him.”
