Gig Worker Dies After Bike Rams Into Truck

Hyderabad: A 23-year-old laborer died after his two-wheeler crashed into a stationary truck on the NH-44 service road near Shamshabad’s Peddashapur village on Tuesday morning.

Police said the deceased, 23-year-old Tarun Kumar, a ride-hailing app driver from Nallakunta, was riding his bike from Shamshabad towards Shadnagar around 6 am when he hit the back of a truck parked near a bus stand. The truck was registered in Maharashtra.

Tarun, who was seriously injured in his head, died at the scene. Police said the truck was parked on the service road without warning of any danger. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Shivaji Bhose, a resident of Maharashtra.

According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, J Shilaja, 43, a sanitation worker residing in Jubilee Hills, her son had informed her around 10.30 am on March 23 (Monday) that he was going to Tirupati, but later said that he would return home around 9.30 pm.

The family was informed of the accident by the police at around 06.30 on Tuesday.

The family who came to the scene later filed a complaint with the police. While an investigation was launched against the truck driver upon the complaint, the investigation into the incident continues.

Police arrested fake dentist in Nedmet

Nermet police filed a lawsuit against a fake doctor for running a dental clinic without a valid license. Acting on a tip-off, the team carried out a surprise inspection at Anjalika Dental Clinic located in Satya Aditya Towers near Three Temple Street. During the investigation, it was determined that the clinic had been operated without permission from the relevant department for more than 10 years. Police identified the accused as Gupta Ramesh Kumar, who was found to be practicing modern dentistry without a BDS degree. Authorities said the accused misled the public by claiming to have a BDS diploma, thus putting the lives of patients at risk.

A lawsuit was filed against the defendant, and it was learned that the investigation continues.

Missing child found in Moinabad

A five-year-old boy who went missing from Moinabad was tracked on Tuesday and reunited with his parents within hours, police said.

Authorities said that the child was left in the care of acquaintances while his mother, a daily wage worker, went to work. He went out while playing and was found on the road by his older sister, who later took him home.

When the mother could not find him, she filed a complaint. Using CCTV footage and local inquiries, police tracked the boy to his sister’s home before handing him over to his mother.

Fake pickle unit busted in Jiyaguda

Task Force Golconda team and Kulsumpura police in a joint operation raided the manufacturing units in Venkatesh Nagar of Jiyaguda on Tuesday and arrested a person who was manufacturing and supplying fake pickles. Raw materials and property worth ₹3 lakh were seized.

Police said that 62-year-old K. Ravinder was producing pickles without a valid license, in unhygienic conditions, using low-quality ingredients. Additional DCP Task Force Ande Srinivas Rao stated that stale mangoes and lemons are preserved with rock salt and supplied to kirana shops, restaurants and hotels.

Authorities warned that consumption of such pickles could pose serious health risks. The suspect, along with the seized materials, was handed over to the Kulsumpura police for further investigation.

Rice trader lost his life in KPHB accident

Dasari Suresh Raju, a 56-year-old rice trader from Saraswati Nagar, Secunderabad, died after a goods carrier hit his bike and ran over him near Rythu Bazar in KPHB colony on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said Raju left home around 10 am for work in Madhapur. At 12.38 pm, he received a call from his wife Nandini’s phone informing her of the accident. When he arrived at the hospital, doctors pronounced him dead.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the carrier, allegedly driven in a hurry, hit the two-wheeler from behind, causing it to fall before being crushed. He was taken to the hospital by 108 ambulance.

The police launched an investigation into the incident upon his wife’s complaint.

Two cyclists who were demonstrating were detained

Two bikers, who were caught performing dangerous stunts and creating disturbance in front of the Telangana Secretariat, were arrested by the city police on Tuesday.

A. Seethaiah, SHO of Saifabad police, said that the accused were creating an intimidating atmosphere for commuters by performing dangerous stunts on bikes and also doing pulleys on roads near Lumbini Park and Secretariat.

“We arrested the accused Md Akheel, 19, a courier and a resident of Bholakpur, Musheerabad, and Mohammed Ateeq, 22, a private company employee and a resident of Nampally, Aghapura,” the SHO added.

The duo was performing reckless stunts and recording videos and sharing them on social media to promote them. The SHO said their actions were not only causing inconvenience but also putting the lives of commuters at risk.
