Man Gets 10 Yrs RI In Murder Case

VI Additional District and Sessions Judge’s Court, Rangaeddy, Kukatpally sentenced a man to ₹1,000 fine along with 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for murder of a man over personal disputes in Miyapur.
The accused, Aravind Singh, 22, a resident of Kalvary Temple Road in Miyapur and a native of Balrampur in Chhattisgarh, was convicted under Section 103(1) of the BNS. The case dates back to July 7, 2024, when the accused allegedly brutally attacked Man Singh near the Jaitra Company labor camp in the dead of night, intending to behead him apart from causing bodily injuries. Based on the complaint received on July 8, 2024, a case was registered under Section 109 of the BNS.
After the victim succumbed to injuries at Gandhi Hospital on July 11, the case was converted to murder under Section 103(1) of the BNS. The defendant was arrested on July 10, 2024, and charged on January 28, 2025.
Cyberabad police nab seven people in fraud worth Rs 1.33 crore
Seven persons were arrested by the Cyberabad cybercrime wing for collectively defrauding two citizens of ₹1.33 crore between March 18 and March 24, police said on Wednesday.
In the largest case, a trading and IPO investment scam of ₹1,26,30,000 was unearthed. According to police, the scammers contacted the victim via WhatsApp and Telegram and directed him to a fake AI-based trading platform promising high returns. To gain his trust, he was added to groups where trading tips, IPO opportunities, and fake profit screenshots were distributed. The victim was persuaded to open an account on a fake website and transfer money to multiple bank accounts through IMPS, NEFT and RTGS. The platform encouraged further investment by showcasing inflated virtual profits and fake IPO shares. When the victim tried to withdraw the money, additional payments were requested. Two accused – Umesh Chauvan and Rathod Dasharath – were arrested for providing mule bank accounts to divert the money.
In another case, part-time job fraud of ₹7,00,400 was detected. The victim was contacted via WhatsApp and offered online tasks such as adding items to their shopping cart with a guaranteed commission. Initially small payments were made to establish trust, then the victim was encouraged to invest large sums through a fake platform wallet. Scammers displayed fake profits and demanded more payments, citing credit score upgrades, penalties and withdrawals. Withdrawals were blocked despite multiple transactions. The four accused – Teluguntla Pratap Reddy, Naveen Reddy Ippa, Vemula Pavan Kumar and Sai Teja Pasupula – were arrested for facilitating fraud through bank accounts.
Overall, police detected seven cases during the week, including four trading scams, two part-time job scams and one digital detention scam, and 11 people were arrested.
The police also obtained 73 refund orders from the courts in six cases, ensuring the return of ₹24,02,952 to the victims.
A woman’s gold chain was stolen in Miyapur
The gold chain of a 40-year-old woman was stolen by unidentified people who broke into her house in Miyapur on Tuesday evening under the pretext of providing internet connection. According to police, the victim, Koppujetti Rama Laxmi, a housewife residing in Marthandanagar, was alone at her home when the incident took place around 5 pm. The defendants reportedly entered by claiming that they had come to establish or check the internet connection. Allegedly, one of the suspects who entered took out his knife and threatened him. He temporarily blinded the intruders by spraying pepper into their eyes. They then snatched the gold chain weighing approximately 300-400 grams from his neck and fled the scene.
Miyapur detective inspector Ramesh Naidu said, “Efforts are on to identify and track them. The woman remains alone at home. We are yet to ascertain whether the robbers are regular or first-time offenders.” A case has been registered and investigation is ongoing.
Tanker killed man
A 30-year-old man died after being hit by a speeding water tanker at T Junction near Puppalaguda in Narsingi around 12 pm on Tuesday. Narsingi police said the deceased, 30-year-old Bhadra, was near a tire repair shop, filling drinking water and getting into his vehicle when the incident took place.
The water tanker driven by 35-year-old Madigela Srinivas, registered in Karnataka, was coming from the ISB road and moving towards Kokapet in a fast and hasty manner. While Bhadra was trying to sit in the driver’s seat, the tanker allegedly hit him. The vehicle then hit another vehicle and sustained damage to its left side.
Bhadra suffered fatal injuries to his head and leg and died on the spot. Police said he lost a lot of blood. The police arrived at the scene and took the body to Osmaniye morgue for autopsy. A case was registered and further investigation was on.
Teenager who fainted at school due to suspicion of foul play dies
A 14-year-old boy who fainted at his school in Kapra borders died during treatment, raising suspicions among his family about the circumstances of his death. Kushayiguda police registered a case and launched an investigation.
According to the police, the complainant, a resident of Adarsh Nagar, stated that her son, a Class 9 student of a private school in Vasavi Siva Nagar, suddenly collapsed in the school premises on March 6. He was rushed to a private hospital and later transferred to another facility for advanced care, where he underwent brain surgery the same night.
The child was later transferred to Gandhi Hospital, where he died in the early morning hours of March 8. Doctors reportedly said he died due to a blood clot in the brain.
His family performed the last rites in Kushayiguda on the same day. However, his mother stated that she was suspicious of the incident and filed a complaint with the police.
Based on his complaint, a case under Section 106(1) of BNS has been registered and further investigation is on. Meanwhile, protests by family members and locals continued on Wednesday, demanding clarity on the child’s death.
Woman sentenced to 25 years in prison in Dubai was released
A Hyderabad woman, who was arrested in a drug-related case in Dubai and sentenced to 25 years in prison, has returned home after a protracted legal battle in the UAE. His meeting with his family at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday evening was deeply emotional.
The woman, Ameena Begum from Kishanbagh, was detained at Dubai Airport in May 2025. According to Parliament Bachao Tehreek spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan, the woman had traveled abroad with the promise of a job but was allegedly found carrying a bag containing contraband. His defense argued that he was unaware of the content and was misled by an agent.
His first appeal was rejected; The court upheld the sentence despite his personal circumstances, which included being separated from his wife, caring for an underage child and elderly parents, and suffering from tuberculosis.
Subsequent efforts included a second appeal and a petition for clemency, supported by donors who helped raise funds for legal costs. He was eventually released after months of trial.
There were emotional scenes at RGIA as Ameena was reunited with her young son and mother after a long separation.
