Faculty told to align teaching with student aspirations

Ganesan Raghuram, former principal of IIM Bangalore and professor (retired) at Chanakya University and Gujarat Maritime University, said teachers should develop the habit of writing down their thoughts, ensure reflection and continuous improvement in teaching practices.
Addressing faculty members at the faculty orientation program on ‘Classroom Dynamics – Learning, Preparation and Engagement’ organized by PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Sciences, Vijayawada on Thursday, Mr. Raghram said there was a need to adopt a context-to-concept model in management education to improve classroom effectiveness.
Mr. Raghuram also emphasized that student-centeredness should be the primary focus and urged faculty members to align their teaching methods with students’ aspirations. He underlined that the application of knowledge for development should be the guiding motto of every management department. Emphasizing experiential learning, he noted the vital role of case studies in bridging theory and practice. He concluded his words by stating that organizational performance is the ultimate goal for managers.
