Helicopter crash off Kauai, Hawaii kills 3 and injures 2 near Nā Pali Coast

At least three people were killed and two others were injured when a helicopter crashed into the ocean off the coast of Hawaii on Thursday.

According to the Kauaʻi Police Department, dispatchers received a call about a helicopter crashing into the ocean near Kalalau Beach around 3:45 p.m.

The helicopter was operated by Airborne Aviation and had a pilot and four passengers on board, officials said.

The crash resulted in three fatalities, officials confirmed in a press release. The other two people were taken to Wilcox Medical Center for treatment.

The crash site on Kauaʻi’s north shore is a popular spot for helicopter tours, with views of cliffs, beaches and waterfalls along the Nā Pali Coast.
