Broncos winger Josiah Karapani fined over post-Dolphins win ‘disturbance’
Broncos winger Josiah Karapani has been hit with a fine and a month-long nightlife ban for the early morning incident in Brisbane after his team beat the Dolphins on Friday night.
Queensland police said in a statement on Saturday afternoon that officers issued a public nuisance ticket and a prohibition ticket to a 24-year-old Gold Coast man on Ann Street in Fortitude Valley at 3.30am.
The action, which included a fine understood to be worth around $1,000 and a one-month restraining notice to the Valley Safe Night Zone, followed what police described only as a “disturbance”.
The team released a statement on Saturday confirming that Karapani was the 24-year-old in question. “The NRL Integrity Unit has been notified,” the team said.
On Friday night the Broncos and Karapani defeated the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium in the Battle of Brisbane. 26-12 fourth round victory.
