Death toll mounts as US-Israeli war on Iran expands

The US and Israeli attacks that sparked the Iran war triggered Iran’s attacks on Israel, US bases and Gulf countries, and opened a new front in Lebanon.

Here is the latest death toll reported since the conflict began on February 28:

IRANIAN

* US-based human rights group HRANA announced that 3461 people have died since the start of the war, 1551 of whom were civilians and at least 236 were children.

* The group says its data comes from field reports, local contacts, medical and emergency sources, civil society networks, open source materials and official statements

* The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies said in a statement on Friday that at least 1,900 people have died and 20 thousand people have been injured so far in the US-Israeli attacks in Iran.

* It is unclear whether these figures include the at least 104 people the Iranian military says were killed in a US attack on an Iranian warship off the coast of Sri Lanka on March 4.

LEBANON

* Lebanese officials say that 1,189 people, including at least 124 children, have died in Israeli attacks since March 2.

* More than 400 Hezbollah fighters have been killed since the Lebanese armed group launched an offensive on March 2 in a new war with Israel, two sources with knowledge of the group’s numbers told Reuters

* It is unclear whether the death toll reported by authorities includes the number of fighters

IRAQ

* According to Iraqi health authorities, at least 100 people have been killed since the beginning of the crisis, including civilians, members of Iran’s Shiite Popular Mobilization Forces, US-allied Kurdish Peshmerga fighters and army soldiers

* One foreign crew member was killed in an attack on tankers near an Iraqi port, according to port security officials

ISRAEL

* According to the Israeli ambulance service, missiles launched from Iran and Lebanon towards Israel killed 19 people in Israel.

* The Israeli army announced that four of its soldiers were killed in Southern Lebanon

* Separately, Israeli forces misfired and killed an Israeli farmer near the Lebanese border on March 22.

UNITED STATES

*Thirteen soldiers were killed; Six were confirmed dead after a US military refueling plane crashed over Iraq, while another seven soldiers were killed during operations against Iran, the US military said.

* 12 US soldiers were injured, two seriously, in Iran’s attack on the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, a US official told Reuters on Friday.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

* Ten people, including two soldiers, died in Iran’s attacks, according to UAE officials

TRAIN

* According to the statement made by the Qatar Ministry of Defense, seven people lost their lives in the fatal helicopter crash that occurred after a technical malfunction during a “routine mission” in Qatar’s territorial waters on March 22.

* Four of the dead were Qatar Armed Forces personnel, one was a Turkish soldier from the Qatar-Türkiye joint forces, and two were technicians working for Türkiye’s defense giant ASELSAN.

KUWAIT

* Authorities reported that six people, including two people, two interior ministry officials and two soldiers, were killed in the Iranian attacks.

West Bank

* Four Palestinian women killed in Iranian missile attack in Israeli-occupied West Bank

SYRIA

* State news agency SANA reported that four people were killed when a missile hit a building in Iran’s southern city of Sweida on February 28.

bahrain

* According to the interior ministry, two people died in two separate attacks by Iran; The latest hit a residential building in the capital Manama.

* The UAE defense ministry said that one of its civilian contractors, a Moroccan citizen, was killed in Iran’s attack on Bahrain on March 24.

OMAN

* It was reported that two people died in a drone attack on an industrial zone in Sohar province on March 13, in the country that hosts mediation talks between the USA and Iran.

* The ship’s manager said earlier that one person died after a tanker hit a shell off the coast of Muscat

SAUDI ARABIA

* Two people lost their lives as a result of a bullet falling on a settlement in the city of Al-Kharj, southeast of the capital Riyadh.

FRANCE

* 1 French soldier died and 6 others were injured in a drone attack during which they were conducting anti-terrorism training in Northern Iraq.
