The Israel Defense Forces has suspended an entire battalion from operations in the West Bank after soldiers were detained and allegedly attacked a CNN crew, the Israel Defense Forces announced Monday.
CNN correspondent Jeremy Diamond reported that the photojournalist on his team was attacked by Israeli soldiers while covering an attack allegedly carried out by Israeli settlers in the West Bank. Diamond said the IDF detained his crew in the Palestinian village of Tayasir for two hours.
CNN stated that the incident was being investigated by the Israeli military police and said, “The soldiers detained the team after one of the soldiers choked CNN photojournalist Cyril Theophilos, knocking him to the ground and damaging his camera.” he said.

IDF Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir also condemned the incident in a statement and made it clear that the treatment of the CNN team was unacceptable.
