You can now travel from Paris to Berlin by sleeper train stopping at some of Europe’s best cities – here’s how to book

Instead of traveling around Europe this summer and worrying about luggage and flight times, you can now take a sleeper train from Paris to Berlin.

European Sleeper launched the new route on March 26 and is now set to run three times a week.

The journey from Paris to Brussels to Berlin provides a direct, overnight connection between three vibrant cities.

It takes around 15 hours and there is one option you can book today: 31 March, departing Paris Nord at 18:03 and arriving in Berlin at 9:02 tomorrow morning, priced at £163.50 plus a £2.99 booking fee.

Chris Engelsman, co-founder of European Sleeper, commented on the new route and said: ‘Building a network doesn’t happen overnight. But step by step we are proving that night train connections between major cities can work for passengers and as a sustainable business.’

Elmer van Buuren, co-founder of European Sleeper, added: ‘This train is also about opening up the European rail market, creating space for new entrants and offering better integrated cross-border services.’

The company is also preparing to add a new direct Milan route, which will be available from September.

The journey will start from Brussels and travel overnight via Cologne to Zurich, Lugano, Lake Como and Milan.

Booking platform Rail Europe has also launched European Sleeper as a new option on its site.

So if leaving Amsterdam in the evening and arriving in Prague when the sun rises is your thing, this might be the way to travel this summer.

The service sees travelers stopping in some of the best cities on the continent.

This means tourists won’t have to worry about checking in and out of hotels between destinations and won’t waste days traveling to the next location.

Traveling by train across Europe with recliners, sleeper cabins and couchettes is a flexible, simple and comfortable form of transport.

European Sleeper is easy to incorporate into itineraries and allows travelers to wake up in a new destination.

There are routes to some of Europe’s most popular cities, including Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels and Prague.

Rail Europe introduced this option after seeing an increase in the number of passengers booking night trains.

According to the French Transport Regulatory Authority (ART), the number of passengers on night trains in France increased by 26 percent between 2023 and 2024.

This marked the first time in decades that more than a million passengers booked such tickets in a single year.

“European Sleeper brings an exciting new dimension to our platform, expanding the range of overnight travel options available to our global partners,” said Rail Europe CEO Bjorn Bender.

‘As demand for cross-border rail continues to grow, particularly among international passengers, this integration allows us to offer greater choice and flexibility while also supporting the ongoing development of the European night train network.’
