Two people arrested as part of Dezi Freeman investigation
A man and a woman have been arrested and will be questioned as part of the investigation into how Dezi Freeman evaded capture for months after killing two police officers last year.
Police arrested the two men at separate properties in north-east Victoria around 7am on Saturday.
“They will now be interviewed by the police,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
“The investigation is ongoing and we are therefore not in a position to provide further details at this time.”
The man and woman are not Freeman’s family members; police identify them as co-workers of Freeman.
Freeman was shot dead by police on a remote property near the border town of Walwa on Monday.
He had been on the run since August 19 last year, when he killed police officers Neal Thompson and Vadim de Waart-Hottart when they arrived at a property in Porepunkah to execute a search warrant regarding child sexual abuse allegations against him.
