Brits could experience their hottest day of the year from next week, despite Storm Dave dumping rain and strong winds across much of the country over the Easter weekend. The national weather agency has issued yellow weather warnings for wind covering North Wales, Northern Ireland, northern England and Scotland over the Easter weekend, as well as a rain and snow warning for Scotland.

The Met Office said Storm Dave could bring wind speeds of up to 90mph, while mountains in Scotland could see 20cm of snow. Fortunately for many Brits heading into next week, weather conditions look set to improve.

Met Office maps on the morning of Saturday 4 April show temperatures could rise to 19°C in southern parts of England on Tuesday and reach 21°C on Wednesday 7 and 8 April. This forecast will make southern regions warmer than the current 2026 record. A temperature of 20.9C was recorded at Gogerddan near Aberystwyth on 18 March.

This heat will also make the UK warmer than Ibiza, Spain, where tourists are expected to see temperatures of 17C and 18C on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. Mirror reports.

Separately, temperature anomaly maps created by WXCHARTS using Met Desk data on April 4 also show a warm surge is on the way. The ECMWF weather model shows deep red areas across England and Wales on Wednesday, indicating where temperatures could rise well above the seasonal average.

The Maximum Temperature chart shows that temperatures may rise up to 23°C by 18.00 on Wednesday.

BBC forecasters are also predicting sunny skies and warm weather next week.

They say: “On Monday the wind will ease, there will be plenty of sunshine and there will likely be some partly cloudy clouds in the afternoon. Tuesday and Wednesday will see breezier, warmer weather with plenty of sunshine expected.”

Looking ahead, the Met Office said the country could see more “short warm spells” this month. However, there is also a risk of further “winter showers”.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast, looking at dates between 8 April and 17 April, is as follows: “Highly variable conditions are expected during this period, with some strong winds at times, as Atlantic frontal systems move eastwards across the UK.

“These will bring occasional showers or showers, most intense and frequent in the west and north-west, with longer and drier interludes likely in the south and sheltered eastern areas.

“Although temperatures will be near average for the period overall, there may be opportunities for some brief warm spells in the south and east. Conversely, occasional colder interludes in the northwest may lead to some wintry showers and overnight frosts, particularly in the hills.”
