Trump calls airman rescue an “Easter Miracle” mission

President Donald Trump hailed the rescue of a missing US airman from a crashed F-15E in Iran as an “Easter Miracle” after US forces rescued the second crew member after a high-risk mission behind enemy lines.

“The rescue was an Easter Miracle. The enemy was large and fierce. The rescuers were smart, strong, determined and as cool-headed as anyone could be,” Trump said. said NBC host Kristen Welker. “Such a rescue has never happened before in such hostile enemy territory. It is usually not done because it is thought that it cannot be done.”

The rescue came after the F-15 was shot down in Iran, triggering a search operation that lasted several days. U.S. forces had already rescued the first crew member before finding the second crew member, who was lost in mountainous terrain during a massive search of the area by Iranian forces.

In a press release announcing the successful recovery, Trump called the operation one of the most daring in U.S. military history and provided an update on the airman’s condition.

“Over the past few hours, the US Army conducted one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in US History. He is injured, but he will recover,” Trump said. “We rescued a seriously injured and truly brave F-15 Crew Member/Officer from deep in the mountains of Iran. The Iranian Army was looking intently and closing in in large numbers.”

Trump also highlighted operational risks, emphasizing that such missions are rarely attempted due to the danger to both personnel and equipment.

“Such raids are rarely attempted due to the ‘human and equipment’ danger. It doesn’t happen that way,” he said.

It revealed that the earlier rescue of the first crew member was deliberately not made public in order to protect the second operation, suggesting coordination between multiple high-risk missions.

“This miraculous Search and Rescue Operation is in addition to the successful rescue of another brave Pilot yesterday, which we did not approve because we did not want to jeopardize our second rescue operation,” Trump said.

Trump called the bilateral recovery historically significant, saying the United States had accomplished something never before seen in modern military operations.

“In military memory, this is the first incident in which two U.S. pilots were separately rescued deep in Enemy Territory,” he said.

He framed the mission as a broader demonstration of U.S. military capability, pointing to the scarcity of American casualties and what he described as dominance in the operational environment.

“The fact that we were able to conduct both of these operations without a single American being killed or injured demonstrates our overwhelming Air Dominance and Superiority in the skies over Iran,” Trump said.

He also called for unity in response to the operation, arguing that the rescue should be a moment of shared national pride across political lines.

“This is a moment that ALL Americans, Republicans, Democrats and everyone else should be proud of and unite around,” Trump said. “We truly have the best, most professional and lethal Army in World History.”
