Sarah Ferguson reportedly felt “incredibly betrayed” by members of the Royal Family during the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

The former Duchess of York, 66, has faced significant scrutiny for her previous link to the convicted sex offender. She and her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor are mentioned multiple times in the latest documents, with Ms Ferguson describing him as her “dear gorgeous and special friend” in correspondence with the sex offender.

King Charles suspended both Ms Ferguson and Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, 66, from the Royal Lodge. However, a source revealed that Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s ex-wife now feels deeply hurt and alienated.

The source told Heat World that the mother-of-two is “very bitter” following the fallout. They added: “What people don’t see is how far down he is. Every time he opens a newspaper or goes online it’s a reminder that he’s completely out there and there’s no real way back, and he’s really struggling to accept that.”

“Instead of dealing with it, he numbs her, which makes everything worse. This sparks a cycle where she starts yelling and feels even more alone the next day.”

Fergie, who split from Mr Mountbatten-Windsor in 1996, was not granted a royal residence when she and the former Navy pilot left the Royal Lodge.

His exact location remains unclear, but reports indicate that he is “couch surfing”, maintaining a secret existence while living with a circle of wealthy friends.

An insider said: “Sarah feels incredibly betrayed… Fergie is so hurt, angry and feels like everyone in the family has been wronged.” They suggested that they believed the author was too polite to challenge anyone directly.

While Ms Ferguson’s whereabouts are unknown, it is understood she has refused to move to the US for fear of scrutiny of Epstein’s victims.

The former duchess has previously spent significant time promoting her business ventures in America but is now believed to be increasingly anxious about returning following the damaging revelations from the Epstein papers.

Just two weeks ago, a US lawmaker wrote a letter to the mother of two, urging her to provide evidence to Congress about the pedophile.

Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, by contrast, has now moved into Sandringham Manor. Although he didn’t attend the royal family’s Easter celebrations for several days beforehand, he was photographed grinning behind the wheel of a vehicle there this week.

He currently lives at Wood Farm, an isolated property that formerly functioned as Prince Philip’s residence and is used as a royal “retreat”; Marsh Farm is an old vacant farmhouse that is being renovated. But Mr Mountbatten-Windsor denies any wrongdoing.
