Man left with serious injuries after ‘falling from back of a plane’ at Manchester Airport

A man who reportedly crashed into the back of a Jet 2 plane has been taken to hospital.

The man was taken to hospital for “suspected serious injury”, the North West Ambulance Service said, adding that they were called shortly after 8am on Saturday morning to reports of “someone falling from a height”.

He is believed to be an aeronautical engineer who crashed into the back of a Jet 2 plane. Manchester Evening News reported.

Images of the scene show many ambulances and fire trucks around a plane with its rear door open. Many airport employees are at the scene.

The man was a contractor for a third-party supplier carrying out work for the budget airline, which launched an investigation into the incident.

A Jet 2 spokesman said Independent: “We are aware of an incident at Manchester Airport this morning (Saturday 11 April) involving an individual from a third party provider.

“We cannot confirm any further details at this time, but we can confirm that a full investigation has been launched. We are doing our best to provide support to anyone who needs it.”

It was reported that the plane was supposed to fly to Tenerife before the terrible incident occurred.

According to MEN, the unnamed man suffered serious injuries, including leg and arm fractures. He is believed to be still in hospital.

An NWSA spokesperson said: “A male patient was taken to hospital for treatment for suspected serious injuries.

“We were called at 8.22am to report that someone had fallen from a height.”
