Heather Graham recalls being labeled ‘nerdy’ before ‘License to Drive’ role

Heather Graham says she was dismissed as a “nerdy” teenager before Hollywood came along.
The actress recalled being underestimated in high school before landing the role of the popular cheerleader in “License to Drive,” which she described as a “huge moment” that launched her independence and career.

“So, I went into this as a popular, beautiful cheerleader, and I had terrible style, bad hair and makeup. Like, I didn’t know how to do it. And then people were like, ‘Oh?’
“[The movie] “It came out just as I was graduating,” Graham added. “And I think people said, ‘Maybe we should have paid attention to it.'”

Graham said landing the iconic role of Mercedes Lane in “License to Drive” at age 17 was a “big moment” for her.
“It was huge for me. It was like a huge moment,” he explained. “I needed to make money. I was independent. I had a bank account and I could live on my own.”

Graham began his career with small roles in commercials and television before starring in teen movies such as “Drugstore Cowboy” and “Swingers.”
He got his big break with the movies “Boogie Nights”, “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me” and “Bowfinger”.
In 2009, Graham starred in the blockbuster movie “The Hangover.” Since then, he has continued to act in films and television, while also beginning to write and direct projects.
His latest movie “They Will Kill You” will be released on March 27.

The 56-year-old actress shared some of her beauty secrets in a recent interview. We Weekly.
Graham claimed he “didn’t have actual surgery by cutting my face open.” But he said he’s tried a number of other methods, including “microneedling, Botox, and a bunch of laser stuff.”
“Some of these laser treatments are torture,” he said. “It’s like having your face blasted for an hour and a half.”

The movie star’s goal is to stay away from invasive plastic surgery because she “doesn’t want to look crazy” and her “goal is to look natural.”

“I feel like some people get facelifts and they end up looking like this… I mean, there are people who get it and that’s good. But I just don’t want to be one of those people who get it and look weird,” she said. “But I don’t know [when] I’m older, I wouldn’t rule it out completely. Who knows in the future.”
Graham also tries to eat a balanced diet and get 10 to 11 hours of sleep. She said she uses yoga as a way to stay fit and manage stress and that it is “very relaxing.”
