I went on Take Me Out TWICE and even bagged a date with Roman Kemp on the celebrity version – he showed his true colours straight away

A woman who twice appeared on ITV dating show Take Me Out has opened up about her experience, including going on a date with Roman Kemp on the celebrity version.

Paddy McGuinness was the host of the popular program, which was broadcast on screens between 2010 and 2019.

Leicester’s Jodie Carnall first traveled to Fernando Island with Tom after appearing in the civil edition.

In 2016, she was invited back to a celebrity show and in the process made a date with Roman Kemp.

To talk Zingo Bingo Jodie said of her time with Roman: ‘He was lovely.

‘I think the fact that he just got me he liked my personality.

‘He was also very reassuring because he was used to making movies. ‘I would date him again.’

He added: ‘We stayed in touch for a while. I would love to see him again.

‘It was an activity appointment and he was very kind and reassuring.’

Touching on whether she felt more confident during her second appearance on the celebrity show, Jodie explained: ‘Yes, I felt more confident.

‘I think maybe I would have had my lips done by then. I felt much better at Roman Kemp because I had done this before.

‘Also very pleasant and reassuring. Instead of being annoying, it made it more fun.’

Even though Take Me Out hasn’t been on the air for almost seven years, Jodie shared that she’s considering whether the show will still have a place in 2026.

He said: ‘Yes, I think it’s needed more than ever.

‘It’s impossible to find a relationship in this generation. Nobody makes an effort anymore.

‘I’d rather spend my time with someone in person rather than texting them. It’s a shame it’s been discontinued now. It was a lot of fun.”

Jodie joked that it would be ‘funny’ to have Roman host the show if it returned, but reiterated that Paddy was ‘the original’.

Explaining what her friends and family thought of her time on Take Me Out, she shared: ‘They loved it. They said, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe you’re on Take Me Out.’ ‘Wow, you’re famous.’

‘I wish but no, I just went on a dating show, went on a date and now I’m back at my 9 to 5 job.

‘It was very difficult to enjoy that life. ‘I loved him so much.’

Earlier this year, a former Take Me Out contestant recalled the time they appeared on the show.

John Harris joined the program as a student in 2011 and admitted that he only joined it ‘because it seemed silly and fun’ and not to find love.

Perhaps it was a good thing the Scot wasn’t looking for anything serious, because he soon discovered that most of the women featured on the infamous Saturday night dating show were already in relationships.

He said: ‘It turns out a lot of girls are already in relationships. They were looking for some publicity.

‘They portray different characters in each episode. They would choose a gentleman, someone interesting, someone strange, and then another handsome man.’

John also revealed that the show involved a lot of self-exposure, but he wasn’t paid a penny and couldn’t even taste the meal that seemingly slapped him on his date.

The reality TV contestant said it took ‘a good hour’ to film the show in the studio and that she had to go up and down in the single-person elevator a few times because ‘they wanted a few panning shots’.

He added: ‘Girls have to abide by your decisions from the moment you first come down.

‘It’s just industrial stuff and you have to climb a ladder; Actually it’s nothing. It’s only dazzling when you see it on TV.’

She also admitted that her outfit was a lot less flashy than it looked and, incredibly, she was using sanitary pads to prevent so much sweating.

John said: ‘I was wearing a gray shirt and it was hot inside so I had a sanitary pad stuck to my armpit. I was sweating! I wanted to wear a skirt, but someone else in the series was wearing a skirt. I bought three outfits and the production team said, “Wear this.”‘

Lucky enough to go on a date with single girl Kerry, John flew to Fernando Island the next day.

But the potential lovebirds weren’t alone and John revealed that the entire series was filmed at the same time, so all the matched couples went out at the same time.

But at least their flight costs were covered by ITV and they were given ‘some food and equipment costs’.

But incredibly, when John arrived at Fernando he had forgotten the name of his date – even though he had only met him the day before.

He said: ‘When we flew we went to party. We were all young kids staying in separate hotels. We just went out and had a blast.

‘I had to get up at 5am to shoot my appointment the next morning; I couldn’t remember the girl’s name!

‘We had to play tennis on the date and had no choice. Then we went out for dinner, but you can’t actually eat any of the food. It’s all for display.’

John only intended to have fun on the date and said he thought Kerry ‘maybe wanted a little more’.

He admitted: ‘She was a very nice girl; There is nothing to object to this. But I wasn’t the right man for her.’
