LDF will return to power for a third consecutive term with more than 90 seats, says M.V. Govindan

Expressing confidence that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) will return to power for an unprecedented third term by winning more than 90 seats, Communist Party of India (Marxist) State Secretary MV Govindan said speculations about high voting rates in the Assembly elections are baseless. At a press conference held at AKG Center on Sunday, he said that LDF’s incumbent MLAs will emerge victorious as voters have shown strong desire for continuity.

Mr. Govindan dismissed speculation that the high voting percentage in the Assembly elections could be an indication of a change of government. “The United Democratic Front (UDF) and some sections of the media are trying to create the impression that high voting rates are evidence of anti-government. However, if you compare the voter numbers with previous elections, you will see that this claim is unfounded. Compared to the 2021 Assembly elections, there was a significant decrease in the number of voters in 94 constituencies after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). This decreased number is 78.27%. Voters voted less in 71 constituencies compared to 2021,” he said. Mr Govindan.
