26 Vehicles Seized In Kothapatnam

Nellore: Prakasam district police carried out a large-scale cordon and search operation in Kothapatnam under ‘Operation Vajra Prahar’ on Sunday to prevent crime, maintain law and order and eliminate drug addiction.

Acting on the instructions of SP V. Harshavardhan Raju, the operation was led by Ongole DSP R. Srinivasa Rao with the participation of circle inspectors, sub-inspectors and nearly 50 police personnel.

Police searched the homes, stores and premises of suspected criminals, focusing particularly on cannabis storage and narcotics-related activities. During the operation, 26 vehicles without valid documents were seized and taken to the police station. The suspects’ identities were confirmed with mobile control devices.

Addressing the residents of the area, DSP Srinivasa Rao warned against drug abuse and said that it leads to serious social and financial consequences. He said strict legal action would be taken against those involved in drug trade.

He also warned the public against increasing cyber scams, including OTP scams, and advised youths to stay away from online betting and gaming. Citizens have been urged not to share their Aadhaar details with unknown persons due to risks of identity misuse.

As part of the awareness campaign, the police held a rally from Gangamma Colony to Kothapatnam bus stand, where participants promised a drug-free society.

Police have appealed to the public to report narcotics-related information by calling 112 or WhatsApp number 9121102266.
