Labor maintains two-party lead, buoyed by women: poll

The new poll shows Labor maintaining a strong two-party lead in the Coalition, with support from female voters continuing to rise despite a surge towards One Nation.
The Albanian government received 56 percent of the vote on a two-party basis in early April, according to a Roy Morgan poll released on Monday.
This result was largely due to insurgent support for Labor among female voters.
According to the poll conducted between 6 and 12 April, 61 per cent of women said they would vote for Labor on a two-party basis, an increase of 3.5 per cent.
Less than 40 per cent said they would vote for the Coalition.
For men, the results were quite different; 50 per cent of men said they would vote for Labour, down 4 per cent, leaving the major parties alone.
Support for Labor among men fell by one percentage point in the first ballot, but support for One Nation rose by 2.5 percentage points.
Across the demographic, support for One Nation increased by 3 percentage points to 24.5 percent.
But if the election were held now, Labor would return to government with a clear majority, according to the poll.
