Man dies from ‘poisoning’ in Leicester as police swarm busy high street | UK | News

A man has died in Leicester following an alleged poisoning that sent emergency services rushing to a busy street. Shortly before 1.45pm on Saturday Leicestershire Police received a report of a man unwell at an address in the Clarendon Park area.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Queen’s Road, which was later closed. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service reportedly attended the scene. One man was treated by paramedics and taken to the hospital, but he died a short time later, according to police. A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of administering poison and was later released on bail. The police investigation into the incident continues.

A police statement reads in full: “Shortly before 1.45pm on Saturday, April 11, a report was received of a man unwell at an address in the Clarendon Park area.

“The man was intervened at the scene by medical teams and taken to hospital, but he died a short time later.

” Following officers’ initial inquiries, a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of administering poison. He was later released on bail.

“The investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.”
