X users spot disturbing shadowy figures in Trump’s Al Jesus image | US | News

An AI-generated image shared by Donald Trump depicting himself as Jesus Christ sparked significant backlash, with some X users pointing out a disturbing detail that many initially overlooked.
Within 24 hours, a heated online exchange broke out between the president and the pope; Meanwhile, Trump, Pope Benedict XIV. He branded Leo “weak on crime” and claimed he was “damaging the Catholic Church”. The attack on the pope predictably drew widespread condemnation and eventually led to Trump releasing an AI-generated photo depicting himself as Jesus.
While this post disturbed many viewers, it wasn’t much of a surprise from a president who consistently sees himself as America’s savior. As recently as May 2025, he shared a similar AI-generated photo showing himself dressed as the pope.
Trump appears to have since deleted the post.
Reactions were sharply divided; While some dismissed the absurdity as amusing, others found it a deeply disturbing development. X user @juliaioffe commented on the image with the caption: “Sorry, what is this?” He shared it with the title: drawing attention to a disturbing element in the picture.
In the image, Trump wears white and red robes bathed in golden light, characteristic of traditional religious depictions of Jesus. She is depicted placing her hand on the forehead of a sleeping man, seemingly implying a divine act of healing.
Surrounding him are a kneeling nurse, a praying woman, and a man dressed in camouflage. On the far left, a figure in a dark green uniform, wearing a hat bearing what appears to be an illegible object, stands watching, the Irish Star reported.
Three shadowy silhouettes can be seen floating in the sky above him. It is difficult to pinpoint the numbers clearly, but users on X were quick to highlight their disturbing appearance.
One person asked: “What the hell is that creature in the middle?”
@Art_509 commented: “The Bible always talks about Satan being the horned Dragon, the Original Serpent, and it also talks about the existence of many anti-Christs who are False Christians and worship Satan.”
@Ernie030609 posted: “I had Grok develop this, it looks like a demon walking away.”
@ctzGn offered an alternative perspective, stating: “In propaganda, the person who sent the ‘leader’ is always hovering over him. So this is saying: Trump was sent by Baal.”
Baal is widely recognized in the Hebrew scriptures as a false god and rival of Yahweh. The user suggested that Trump fits that figure while continuing to oppose the Pope’s message.
“This is the Dark Lord Sauron,” user @tashtom predicted, drawing a comparison to the Lord of the Rings foe famous for using sinister methods to seize absolute power.
Despite the flurry of theories, some X users felt that speculation about mysterious figures hovering over Trump had gone too far.
One social media user commented: “Come on. This is a very funny and wholesome AI-generated picture that Trump shared.” He later added: “It’s just as funny as another innocuous photo he posted earlier depicting himself as the Pope. People need to relax a bit.”
