Hearing for alleged abuse of umpire Nick Foot underway; Collard to learn punishment for homophobic slur

A St Kilda representative, who is also a board member of the club, said a letter from the AFLPA had been sent to the court. However, the court stated that the application of the player community has not been received yet.

Borsky said the AFL’s push for a 10-week ban was “excessive” based on previous similar cases.

“Players found to be verbally abusive to referees will be fined and not suspended,” Borsky said.

“Going back to the circumstances of this case…subject to any appeal that may be made…Mr Collard was found guilty of a second offence.”
