APSDMA Warns of Severe Heat Waves in Several Mandals across AP

Amaravati: APSDMA warned of severe heatwaves in several parts of the state on Wednesday.

According to Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA), severe heatwave was likely in 46 mandals and 73 mandals, mainly in northern coastal districts, while high temperatures were expected in coastal and Rayalaseema districts.

“Severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in various parts of the state today,” APSDMA Director General Prakhar Jain said in an official press release. he said. Jain also said that the maximum temperature in Rayalaseema and coastal areas is likely to rise up to 44 degrees Celsius.

Severe heat waves are expected in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Polavaram, Anakapalli, Kakinada and East Godavari mandals on Wednesday; Heat waves were expected in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Polavaram, Anakapalli, Kakinada, East Godavari, Eluru, NTR, Guntur, Palnadu, Markapuram, Prakasam. Nellore, Kadapa and Tirupati mandals.

Meanwhile, the maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 45 degrees Celsius at Ontimitta in Kadapa district, 44.2 degrees at Laddagiri in Kurnool district and Sanjamala in Nandyal district and 43.8 degrees at Varadayyapalem in Tirupati district, he noted.

Other places where high temperature was recorded are: 43 degrees at Anumalapalli in Markapuram district and Kommipadu in Nellore district, 42.8 degrees at Rayadurg in Anantapur district, Durgi in Palnadu district and Talupula in Sri Sathya Sai district, 42.6 degrees at Kambhamvaripalle in Annamayya district, 42 degrees at Kopparapadu in Prakasam district, 41.1 degrees at Kankipadu. 41 degrees in Krishna district and Nagari in Chittoor district.

APSDMA advised people to take precautions, wear hats and light-colored cotton clothes, use sunglasses, avoid exposure to heat, and consume adequate amounts of water, lemon juice, buttermilk and coconut water.
