Russia launches over 300 drones and missiles at Ukraine

Russia attacked Ukraine with hundreds of drones, targeting port infrastructure in the south, killing one person and wounding at least seven others, Ukrainian officials said.

Ukraine’s air force said Wednesday that Russia launched 324 drones and three ballistic missiles overnight.

It was stated that air defense units shot down or neutralized 309 UAVs, but missiles and 13 UAVs hit nine points.

“In the last 24 hours, there have been brutal attacks on Dnipro, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Kryvyi Rih, Chernihiv, Donetsk region and Zaporizhia,” President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in a post on channel X, adding that cooperation to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense is a priority.

“We need air defense missiles every day; the Russians continue to attack our cities every day.”

On Tuesday, Ukraine and Germany agreed on defense cooperation plans, and Kiev agreed on drone production in Norway.

A 74-year-old woman was killed at a kiosk in a joint attack on the southeastern city of Zaporizhia in the early hours of Wednesday, regional governor Ivan Fedorov said in a statement on the Telegram messaging application.

The attack also damaged a parking lot, business and nearby residential buildings and a training facility, Fedorov said.

District prosecutors said both drones and missiles were involved in the attack on the city.

Regional Governor Oleksandr Ganzha said in a statement on the Telegram messaging application that three people were injured in a drone attack on Russia’s southeastern city of Dnipro overnight.

Ganzha stated that the attack also damaged an apartment building and an administrative building, and posted photos of a building with a gaping hole in one of its sides.

The new attack comes after five people were killed and nearly 30 injured in a missile attack on the city on Tuesday.

Four people sought medical help after an overnight drone attack in the central city of Cherkasy, regional governor Ihor Taburets said.

He said dozens of private homes and cars were damaged.

An eight-year-old child was killed and 14 others were injured in an earlier drone strike on Tuesday, Taburets said.

The Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration stated that the port infrastructure on the Danube River in Odessa, the southern region of Ukraine, was subjected to another drone attack, and that an administrative building as well as production and storage facilities were damaged.

It was stated that the ports continued their activities despite the attacks.

Authorities in the Kyiv region also reported that a drone attack took place.
