On the eve of a special session of Parliament on the implementation of the Women’s Reservation Act, women’s rights activists on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, demanded amendments to the law, delinking and limiting its implementation from the Census.
Approximately 500 activists, in their petition to all MPs, said that the state-by-state distribution of the 33% quota could be made according to the states’ seat shares and could be revised after each expansion of the legislature.
