Missing pregnant woman found dead in southwest Houston, family confirms

The family of a 23-year-old Texas woman who disappeared while eight months pregnant confirmed she was found dead in southwest Houston on Thursday.
Ashanti Allen, who had a high-risk pregnancy, disappeared after leaving her home on Friday. report from affiliate FOX 26 Houston.
Police said a body was found Thursday, which Allen’s family confirmed was his.
Allen’s father, Edward, told reporters that he had been numb since learning of his daughter’s fate.

“We [were] We’re hoping for the best, but now we’ve heard the worst,” said Edward Allen. “I don’t think I can even process the fact that my daughter is gone. … I love my daughter. My only daughter, my baby. And then I had my only baby grandchild.”
He said the 23-year-old graduated from a community college and worked at a hospital.

“His life was going somewhere,” Edward Allen said. “She was expecting a baby. So she had baby clothes. I was about to buy a car seat and a stroller and stuff. So she’s just a normal girl, a beautiful girl, working and trying to live her life.”
He added that he believed his daughter was kidnapped before her death.
Video taken at the scene shows authorities scouring a taped-off area, apparently looking for evidence.

Edward Allen appealed to the public to call the police if they have any information about what happened to his daughter.
No arrests were reported as of Thursday afternoon.
