Sarah Ferguson ‘turns down interview offer from NEWSNIGHT’ – after her ex Andrew’s appearance on the BBC show caused his ejection from Royal Family

Sarah Ferguson has been inundated with lucrative tell-all interview offers, including on the BBC’s Newsnight, the same program that led to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s disastrous 2019 “car crash” interview.

Fergie’s now-infamous interrogation, after her ex-husband tried to save the public over his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has been described as one of the worst PR attempts in history.

Speaking to journalist Emily Maitlis, the former Duke of York was surprisingly unrepentant, going so far as to describe Epstein’s behavior as ‘unbecoming’ and claiming he couldn’t sweat because he had a medical condition.

Her emergence led to Andrew’s unraveling as a public figure and his eventual expulsion from the Royal Family.

Now it has been revealed that Fergie, 66, has been approached to give her side of the story – but insiders say she is taking time to ‘think’ while hiding out in a pine-lined chalet in Austria, where she costs £2,000 a night.

The lavish accommodation is located in a quiet resort close to the exclusive Mayrlife health clinic, where the super-rich and supermodels are attracted to its remoteness and privacy, as well as its eccentric weight-loss programmes.

The former duchess was seen leaving the back of a black Mercedes people carrier with tinted windows for the first time in months earlier this week.

Wearing thick-rimmed glasses and with her distinctive reddish hair pulled discreetly up under her baseball cap, she looked little like her last official outing with Andrew at the Royal Family funeral for the Duchess of Kent seven months ago.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s Newsnight interview has been described as one of the worst PR attempts in history after he defended his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

A source confirmed Sun He said media interest had increased, but Fergie had not yet accepted any offers.

They said: ‘He has had a number of offers, including one from Newsnight, but he spends his time thinking and has no intention of talking.’

But they also added that the time may come, adding: ‘Andrew has had the chance to tell his story. Now it’s Fergie’s time.’

The interview offers come at a time when the former duchess remains ‘deeply distressed’ over her fall from grace and forced removal from the Royal Lodge.

Fergie also faces ongoing pressure from US lawmakers to come forward and testify about her and Andrew’s relationship with Epstein.

Friends say his self-imposed solitude in Austria helped him ‘recalibrate’ his perspective on life.

A friend told the Daily Mail: ‘He’s going through a process where he’s taking time to readjust.

‘Everything is gone: title, house, purpose, everything. So in recent weeks he has been trying to regain his strength and decide what to do.

He’s not yet at the stage where he knows what the next steps will look like. It seems logical that he should not lie low until he has an idea of what shape his life will take.’

Fergie previously stayed at the Mayrlife resort on Lake Altaussee two years ago to recuperate after being diagnosed with malignant melanoma – charging up to £6,700 for a two-week convalescent stay.
