King Charles to honour Queen Elizabeth’s 100th birthday

King Charles will reportedly honor the late Queen Elizabeth with a message on her 100th birthday.

The 77-year-old monarch will deliver a heartfelt address to the nation on Tuesday, commemorating her mother’s life and legacy and her 70-year reign, which ended with her death at the age of 96 on September 8, 2022.

Her Majesty will also use the message to “renew her oath of service” after a rocky start to her reign that included battling cancer, estranging herself from her son Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, 41, and dealing with her disgraced brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, 66, as more details emerge about his relationship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein (which Andrew has always denied wrongdoing).

A royal insider told The Mirror: “The beginning of the king’s reign was not without its obvious troubles, but there was also much to celebrate.

“He has been extremely positive in the face of challenges, continuing his cancer treatment while maintaining an incredible work rate.

“He traveled extensively around the country and abroad, met two Popes, celebrated the 50th anniversary of the King’s Trust (formerly the Prince’s Trust) and continued historic visits abroad.

“His message will be a celebration of an incredible life well lived, and an opportunity for him to renew his oath of service to the nation and the Commonwealth, but also to speak to the values he stands for, where justice and the welfare of others matter most.”

The King’s message will take place on what would have been Queen Elizabeth’s 100th birthday, but further commemorations will be held around the anniversary.

These include a series of public events and a private reception at Buckingham Palace, where the King and Queen Camilla, 78, are expected to attend, along with senior members of the royal family.

Following next week’s events, the King and Queen will travel to the US for a State Visit, hosted by President Donald Trump, from 27 to 30 April.
