Horrific footage has emerged showing the moment a car plowed into pedestrians in central London and a woman was left fighting for her life.

The incident occurred in the early hours of this morning on busy Argyll Street, which connects Oxford Street to Great Marlborough Street and is home to popular nightclubs and the iconic London Palladium.

Emergency services were called at around 4.30 in the morning upon the report that a car had hit pedestrians.

Video circulating online captures the terrifying moment a car crashed into a group of people.

In the footage, a woman can be seen hitting the ground and getting stuck under the vehicle as people around her rushed to help.

Another man, believed to have been trying to unlock an e-scooter, was also caught up in the chaos and thrown aside.

Moments before impact, a witness appears to realize what is about to happen and shouts in alarm: ‘He’s going to crush her.’

Although the events leading to the accident remain unclear, the footage shows a woman in a car hitting both a man and a woman.

It was learned that the condition of the woman in her 30s, who was hospitalized, was critical. A man in his 50s suffered ‘life-changing’ injuries, while a second woman in her 30s was treated for minor injuries.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 29-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving and drink driving.

He remains in custody. Authorities confirmed that the incident was not being treated as terrorism-related.

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, Specialist Crime South, said: ‘Our thoughts are with the injured and their loved ones as our inquiries continue.

‘While this incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, venues in the area were still open and we believe many people would have seen what happened.

‘I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision or any activity prior to the collision that they think may be relevant to come forward.

‘The information you have – no matter how unimportant you believe it to be – could be of vital importance to investigators.’
