Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan arrives in Sri Lanka on two-day visit

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan called Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Sunday, April 19, 2026, and held wide-ranging discussions on cross-sectoral bilateral cooperation. While officials stated that energy sector cooperation was among the key issues discussed, they emphasized that “there is no time to waste” on projects, including the ‘energy hub’ proposed in India’s eastern Trincomalee region.
“The Vice President of India stated that both countries expect to further strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy, education, health, tourism, investment and trade, especially in the areas of energy security and port development,” President Dissanayake’s office said in a statement. he said, adding that “extensive discussions” had been held on housing projects and programs financed by India as part of the extended $450 million package for cyclone recovery. The two sides signed a series of MoUs to strengthen projects as part of the aid.
