Pope Leo XIV rages against ‘violence’ and people bring ‘defrauded by rich’ amid Trump feud | World | News

Pope Leo

During his visit to Africa, the Pope said in his post on

“In the face of these evils, Christ hears the cries of the people and lifts us up from every fall and renews our history. He comforts us in every pain and encourages us in our duty.”

Last week, the Pope also slammed “tyrants” who spend billions of dollars on wars, just days after Donald Trump attacked him with a series of extraordinary attacks. The leader of the Catholic Church also expressed his criticism of the “masters of war” during his visit to Cameroon.

In his message, the US-born Pope called for a “decisive change of course”, saying: “The masters of war act as if they do not know that it only takes a minute to destroy, but often a lifetime is not enough to rebuild. They ignore the fact that billions of dollars are spent on killing and destruction, but the resources for healing, education and restoration are nowhere to be found.”

Asked if he would meet with the Pope to “equalize” differences, Trump said, “I don’t think it’s necessary.”

His comments followed a series of posts on Truth Social in which he criticized the Pope as “weak on crime, terrible on foreign policy.” Mr. Trump’s full message was: “I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s okay for Iran to have Nuclear Weapons. I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s terrible that America is attacking Venezuela, a country that is sending massive amounts of Drugs to the United States and, worse, emptying its prisons into our Country, including murderers, drug dealers, and murderers.”

“And I don’t want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I’m doing exactly what I was elected to do, in a landslide… Leo should act as Pope, use his Common Sense, stop serving the Radical Left, and focus on being the Great Pope, not the Politician.”

Pope Leo XIV is currently traveling in Africa. His visit started on April 12 and will last until April 23. Countries included in the visit include Algeria, Cameroon, Angola and Equatorial Guinea.
