However, Singh did not like this request. Sharing the conversation publicly on (sic).
How did netizens react?
The post quickly gained traction on social media and sparked mixed reactions. Many users supported Singh’s stance, pointing out the ethical concerns of presenting fake credentials, while others noted the intense pressure job seekers face in a competitive market.
One netizen commented, “He just wants a simple job, I understand what you are trying to say. But most people find tricks in their life that are not wrong. One should definitely do thorough research and understand their nature before sending a message to someone.”
Answering this question, Jasveer Singh said that this was not a hack but ‘fake credentials’. His reply read: “You can’t find a hack, you spoof your credentials. Big difference. Calling it a ‘life hack’ is exactly the problem. Life hacking optimizes effort, not substituting lies for the truth. It’s too easy to send a document you know isn’t real. That’s the definition of fraud, no matter how haphazardly framed it is.”
Another commented: “It looks bad, but there’s also pressure. MBA admissions heavily penalize vacancies, so people are trying to fix their profiles as much as they can.” (sic)
“Many companies charge for such offer letters. I had a client who was offering immigration services. They used to issue such letters for their clients seeking PR in Canada and Australia. This was around 2007-08. The price of such a letter was around Rs 5,000 and was split in the ratio of 40:60. I am sure such practices are still common,” wrote another.
“You should have told her that @KnotDating on her resume wouldn’t make her look stronger. Quite the opposite. But seriously, sharing a private chat is not cool,” another wrote. For the uninitiated, Knot Dating is an exclusive invitation-only matrimonial platform and India’s first AI-powered chat-based matchmaking experience.
“They’re a kid. They thought you were a friend/mentor who could do them a favor, and they asked for said favor. No need to blow them up for strangers to judge; a simple no will do,” another wrote.
What does the latest incident show?
The incident has reignited debates about hiring ethics, the originality of resumes and rising anxiety among recent graduates and unemployed candidates. It also illustrates the challenges faced by candidates dealing with employment gaps, especially in the highly competitive tech job market. The viral post is a reminder that a strong resume can open doors, but credibility and integrity are vital in the long run.
