Russia arrests dozens of Israelis for being ‘enemies of Iran’ | World | News

Dozens of Israelis were detained upon arrival in Moscow for their alleged involvement in the war with Iran.
At least 40 people were detained for five hours without access to food, water or toilets, triggering a major diplomatic incident at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport.
Some were told that Iran was Russia’s ally and “its enemy is our enemy.” Russian FSB border guards demanded Israelis unlock their mobile phones under draconian new laws adopted by Putin’s regime. Some of the Israelis departing from Tel Aviv also had Russian citizenship.
Their visit to Moscow was said to be “unwelcome” and “they were in vain”. They were eventually released after being forced “to sign papers warning them of the risk of violating the law.” The detainees were released only after the intervention of Israeli foreign minister Gideon Sa’ar.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Monday: “Immediately after learning of the incident, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs took action with both the foreign ministry in Moscow and the Russian embassy in Israel, on the instructions of Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar.”
The ministry stated that “the Russian side has been informed that this behavior is absolutely unacceptable and Israel evaluates the incident with great seriousness.”
Times of Israel It was reported that the detainees, including dual citizens and Israelis without Russian passports, were told to unlock their phones. When the Israelis refused, they were told to close down, the report said.
According to the report, Israeli citizens were released only after signing documents stressing the “unacceptability of violating the law” and warning against such violations.
Israel and the USA launched their attacks against Iran on February 28. Iran and the United States have reached a fragile 10-day ceasefire that will expire on Wednesday unless another deal is reached through Pakistan-brokered talks.
