Tamil Nadu election 2026: Government college, fair price for betel leaves prominent demands in Paramathi Velur constituency

Paramathi Velur constituency, won by AIADMK in 2011 and 2021, is known for its jaggery units and agricultural activities.

The constituency, formed in 2008, located about 24 kilometers from Namakkal town, covers Paramathi Velur taluk, Vengarai, Pandamangalam and Pothanur, part of Tiruchengode and Namakkal taluks. More than 80% of the people are involved in the cultivation of sugarcane, betel leaves and bananas, among other crops. More than 100 jaggery production units operate in Paramathi Velur, Jedarpalayam, Solasiramani and Pandamangalam.
