Blake Lively claims ‘bully’ narrative cost her, seeks up to $296M in lawsuit

Blake Lively has claimed that narratives in the media and on social platforms labeling her as a “bully” and “bad girl” have cost her nearly $300 million.
Lively insisted Justin Baldoni’s film company and PR firm retaliated against her after she came forward with allegations of “abusive behavior” towards the actor, in new court documents obtained by Fox News Digital.
The “Gossip Girl” star said she lost a significant amount of income as a result of the defendants’ alleged conduct, estimating her losses at approximately $34.3 million to $87.8 million. According to Lively experts, much of this is due to missed opportunities between August 2024 and August 2029. These include lost earnings from endorsements, speaking gigs and personal appearances, from major studio films and small independent projects to limited TV series.
Lively also claimed that she lost profits ranging from $39.6 million to $143.5 million from her companies, a beauty brand and a beverage brand.

The 38-year-old actor added another $40 million to damage his reputation; She says this stems directly from the false narrative that portrays her as a “bully,” a “bad girl,” and a “tone deaf.” The legal story involving Baldoni and linking him to these terms garnered more than 176 million impressions online and in traditional media, while the ongoing controversy surrounding the allegations, his legal complaints, and the actor’s countersuit also added another 116 million impressions.
Lively’s legal team sought damages of between $250,000 and $400,000 for the “pain and suffering, physical pain and humiliation” she claimed she experienced.
Baldoni’s team claimed that Lively’s estimated damages were exaggerated and unsupported. Her lawyers argued that even if Lively’s businesses lost profits, she could not personally recoup those monetary losses.
The “Jane the Virgin” star and her company are seeking a finding of no liability and a permanent dismissal of the case.

But Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed most of Lively’s claims against Baldoni, including accusations of sexual harassment and defamation. The judge’s decision narrowed the case to focus solely on the actor’s retaliation claims and breach of contract claims.

Baldoni and Lively first became embroiled in a legal feud after filming “It Ends With Us,” adapted by Colleen Hoover. The “Gossip Girl” actress claimed she was sexually harassed on set and filed a lawsuit against Baldoni in December 2024.

The actor’s case has since been dismissed.
