Red LobsterIts CEO said two years ago that the chain had no plans to revive the mega-popular $20.endless shrimp” Promotion because, in his own words, “I know how to do math.”
All-you-can-eat crustacean pork, which was removed from the menu after costing the seafood chain $11 million in three months, is back.
Damola AdamolekunHowever, Trump, who becomes CEO in 2024, does not need to mince his words because there are some warnings this time.
Some restaurants say they charge $24.99 per person, while others set the price at $29.99. The special is returning for a limited time and is valid for takeout orders only, with participating restaurants only required to keep shoveling shrimp until customers say stop.
“When our fans speak, we listen,” Adamolekun said in a statement announcing the deal on Monday.
Adamolekun, 37, is trying to recover his seafood restaurant company, which was $1 billion in debt when it filed for bankruptcy. Sales are up 10%, he said, but he’s also focusing on cutting costs while trying to win more customers.
Among his ideas was “No Spend Shrimp,” which featured a plate of shrimp prepared three ways for around $15.99. It seems that the public’s appetite is not satisfied.
“Our guests never stop asking for it,” the CEO said of the endless shrimp.
While Adamolekun joked on the Today show in 2024 that the mathematics of infinite shrimp is not mathematics, he also noted that it could make a comeback.
“I don’t want to say never ever, but definitely not the way it’s been done,” he told CNN at the time. “We will not allow this money-losing and unmanaged situation.”
Some Red Lobster fans are already drooling. “Trying to convince my mom to go to Red Lobster because of the endless shrimp,” someone wrote on X after the news broke.
Another commenter, who said they have been Red Lobster servers for seven years, expressed thoughts and prayers for the wait staff still on duty.
“It turns customers into devils and the restaurant into hell. I have never seen a corporate decision bring more chaos, unhappiness, and disdain to humanity than endless shrimp. Give a Red Lobster employee a hug today. They need it,” they wrote.
